So at school we have just started a new topic on mental health. A lot of people hear mental health, and immediately think of people who have schizophrenia, bipolar, and think that they are ‘crazy’ but believe me that is not the case. 1/4 of people who have mental health, are not diagnosed, and this isn’t just for people who have illnesses such as bipolar or depression.
Mental health is something which we all have, however some people’s mental health is a lot worse. The media have a way of making others panic if someone makes the headlines if they are, for example, schizophrenic. They use words such as ‘maniac’ which let’s be fair, would scare anyone reading it, even if they were older. But this doesn’t exactly give a positive light on people who have this illness.
Now I’m not wanting to talk about people with schizophrenia. I wanted to talk about those who suffer with depression, or anything like this. Depression is something which isn’t really talked about much, but it is something which we have little control over. But it is not uncommon. Don’t panic if you have occasional bad days, you probably won’t be suffering with depression, but if you are constantly feeling down, and you don’t know why, or everything is just going wrong, and you feel so low, you don’t know what to do, I can’t tell you enough how important it is to talk to someone. It may just be you need to talk about all your problems, and get everything off your chest. But talk to someone. I know if your reading this you will not want to take this advice because you may think your okk, but for some people that may not be the case. I’m not writing to panic people or make you feel worse, but if you think you are suffering with depression, or any mental illness, talk to someone, just know people are there for you. You probably will feel so alone right now, but everyone has at least one person to talk to, and don’t leave it to the point where things are getting out of control. If you don’t want to talk to your parents, or your not ready talk to your friends, you can always tweet me or message me, just don’t keep it all to yourself. Demi Lovato is my inspiration, I’m sure you may have heard her story, but if not youtube her, she pretty much changed my life. Just keep safe and if you do want someone to talk to I will always be there to listen, just tweet me @RebeccaLSquire God bless.
